Brief Bio
Currently, I am a postdoctoral researcher in Dr. Krishna P. Gummadi's Networked Systems Research Group at MPI-SWS, Saarbruecken. My broad area of research revolves around social computing, information retrieval and fairness and bias in machine learning. Currently, I am working on multiple such projects to understand
Unfairness related concerns in information retrieval algorithms and choice architectures deployed in online e-commerce marketplaces e.g., Amazon, Flipkart etc. Specifically, we are investigating for unfairness concerns for different stakeholders (customers, sellers) on these platforms due to potential preferential treatment of marketplaces toward a set of entities on their platforms.
Different aspects of short video platforms e.g., TikTok, Instagram etc. Especially, the predictability of user behavior on these type of contents, advertisements on such platforms, societal effect of these platforms on users.
Biases and their mitigation in Facial recognition systems.
I conducted my doctoral studies in the Department of Computer Science at Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India under the supervision of Dr. Saptarshi Ghosh and Dr. Animesh Mukherjee. Prior to this, I completed my masters in Information Technology at Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur with the supervision of Dr. Malay Bhattacharyya.
