About Me

The name Abhijnan (or Abhigyan ) (Devanagari: अभिज्ञान, Bengali: অভিজ্ঞান) (pronounced as ovignən) originates from the Sanskrit word Abhijñāna, which means someone/something enabling recollection or remembrance. So, Abhijnan literally means a symbol of recognition. If you are struggling to pronounce my name, don't bother so much. Just call me "Abby" .

I am currently a post-doctoral researcher at Max Planck Institute for Software Systems (MPI-SWS), Germany. Prior to this, I was a PhD student at Indian Institue of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur jointly advised by Prof. Niloy Ganguly, IIT Kharagpur and Prof. Krishna Gummadi, MPI-SWS. During PhD, I was awared the prestigious Prime Minister's Fellowship for Doctoral Research, and Google India PhD Fellowship.

I am a member of the Social Computing Research Group at MPI-SWS. During PhD, I was part of the Complex Networks Research Group (CNeRG) at IIT Kharagpur. Before PhD, I have worked at Microsoft Research India for two years (2012 - 2014). I have briefly worked in Cognizant Technology Solutions back in 2009 - 2010.
